Floods - third time in six weeks

October 2005

Radio and TV warnings gave notice of floods after a damn had burst it's banks to the North of Chiang Mai city. Typhoon Damrey had swept across the area causing widespread damage. Floods at the park took mahouts belongings and park buildings.

Floods caused widespread damage in Chiang Mai province and throughout Northern Thailand

Unusually strong storms have caused widespread damage in Chiang Mai province and throughout Northern Thailand for the third time in six weeks. We are rebuilding our park and it is ready for visitors. Our offices are fully functional. All park staff and animals are safe.

Northern Thailand's rainy season runs between April to October. The cool dry season is between November - February.

We would like to thank all our supporters and friends around the world who send messages of encouragement and other badly needed help.

Special thanks to Eleaid [UK], Sergengeti [USA] and thaifocus [Thailand]

Editors note: The park is open for visitors and volunteers. We need your help. Please see this section to organize your visit. Our offices are all fully functional.
